About the Building

In Gramercy Park, the Ruggles' House soars over its neighboring protected low rise buildings. Ruggles' House was an industrial loft building erected in 1913-14 and was home to a variety of liberal groups, including the American Student Union, the League for Industrial Democracy, the American League for Peace and Democracy, International Labor Defense, etc.
The Ruggles' was built in the early century Industrial style with high ceilinged lofts and huge windows. The loft layouts offer flexible floor plan options. With only 2 apartments per floor, each semi private landing is decorated by the shareholders of that floor. The building offers an intimate boutique feel with one elevator and no doorman for those seeking privacy. While it is tucked away one block south of Gramercy Square Park, The Ruggles' has a lovely roof garden of its own.
